Anger’s Men

You clock out and it's time for your next job,
Turn on your magic, sweet salvation
Turn your keys into knives
Bags into shields, your body into
A fleshy cryptid that can can break necks
And go to war with a cell phone

You must not speak unless spoken to,
You do not belong and the game has begun
A rage -- do not let them see your legs,
You must wear the suit and pay the bills

Sweet, you thought this was a part-time job?
Did you not read the fine, invisible ink?
You were hired the day you broke into this world

Time to walk hometakeoutthetrashshopeatlove
Good luck.
Because we are not the girls who catch a break,
we're the girls who
just

don't

break.

Walking can bring peace, but can also reveal a terrifying world.
I wrote this one thinking about all the times I've been scared while
walking home, to work, or just being outside.
The last sentence was taken from Episode 10, Season 4
of the show "On My Block"-- I really like it.
(Also, it's October, so I wanted to write something for it)
Stay safe.
