About

Hola. I'm Yutzil Valeria Roman.
Me llamo Yutzil Valeria Roman.
This is my digital library.

“Is she really a writer or is she only pretending to be a writer?”

Sandra Cisneros, House on Mango Street (xx)

After years of writing poems and short stories in janky notebooks, journals, and untitled Word documents, I finally decided to put some of those words up for others to see. My poetry can be all over the place, but I mainly focus on:
- immigration
- mi familia
- my love
- my friends
- México (my home and birthplace)
- brown bodies.

I came across the Cisneros quote four years ago, and it hasn’t left me since; the quote captures my relationship with writing. The name of the website (The Sunflower Library) comes from my recent love of sunflowers and eternal love of libraries. I see this website as a space for me to catalogue my writing and for people to enter if they want to. Enjoy the digital library!

**Most of the poems and short form
stories are working drafts**
